Biography
Trained as an opera singer, Tara Marlena Laberge is a versatile performer,
excelling at a variety of musical and theatrical disciplines. From Music
Theater to opera and oratorio, Tara has performed across the United States
and Canada, now calling Minneapolis home.
She has performed leading roles with Prather Family of Theaters, Great
American History Theatre, Actors Theater of Minnesota, the Victoria Conservatory
Opera Studio, Opera NUOVA, and in two National Touring productions with
Troupe America. She has also performed as a soloist with the Calgary Philharmonic
Orchestra, the Calgary Festival Chorus, and GJ Concert Productions among
others….
Her training includes a Diploma in Vocal Performance from the Mount Royal
College Conservatory in Calgary, AB, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance
from the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC, a Masters Degree in Vocal
Performance from the University of Minnesota and a certificate from the
Wiener Meisterkurse für Musik in Vienna, Austria. She is currently pursuing
a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at the University of
Minnesota.
Ms. Laberge is a multi-time scholarship and medal winner at the Calgary
Kiwanis Music Festival, and the 2002 recipient of the prestigious Calgary
Kiwanis Festival Rose Bowl for Most Outstanding Performer. Tara is also
the recipient of the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival Rose Bowl
and has competed as a singer at the provincial level both in British Columbia
and Alberta, representing Alberta at the Canadian National Music Festival
in 2002.
